The Year of the Snake: A Time to Shed, Transform, and Reimagine

This year, we embrace the transformative energy of the snake shedding its skin—an invitation to release, renew, and reimagine.

2025 is The Year of the Snake in Chinese Astrology. The snake represents: Transformation – Adaptability – Renewal – Inner Wisdom….. this is an inner calling to let go of things that might no longer serve us. Letting go and being receptive is an integral part of being adaptable.

At FARA Boutique, we are inspired by the empowered symbolism of the snake—a reminder that we can always shift perspectives, embrace change, and evolve. Fumie loves the organic shape and the fluid, wave-like movement of the serpent. Like the serpent, silk moves in waves around the body, fluid and ever-changing. As we started to think of the best animal to adorn our bodies and our clothes – the snake goddess called to us…

We believe you are attracted to the serpent that weaves through our clothes, because she is mysterious. She symbolizes transformation and inner wisdom. We wear snakes because it speaks to a deep mystery within us – an acknowledgement of the divine feminine. In many traditions, the snake is associated with the goddess and feminine energy.

Elemental change – inspired by the elements, every turn of the 12 signs of the Chinese Zodiac is connected to an element; So, 2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake.

So we have the shape-shifting, shedding quality of the snake – it’s adaptability and yet too the grounded stability – the endurance of wood…

So is this time to make an enduring change –  a time for grounded or pro-active change?

How to bring the qualities of the Snake into your life….

The Year of the Snake starts on January 29th – Chinese New Year.

  • You might want to set an intention to listen to yourself – to trust your own innate wisdom.

  • Take some time for self-reflection inspired by the themes of Adaptability – Flexibility – Transformation…  Tune in and ask yourself about your willingness to change – is it easy for you to be adaptable? Transformation sounds enticing and exciting, but often we are resistant to change. But when we let go, there is the possibility for opening – for renewal.

  • Is it possible to set some time aside this month for this self reflection -  to look at your priorities? Tuning into what supports and nourishes you – what empowers you. And acknowledging anything that needs to be left behind?

  • Feel into any resistance – any attachments to how things are or even to our vision of how change should happen. This is the shapeshifter – seeing beyond our patterns.

  • At FARA Boutique, we are also fascinated that the Wood Snake is an invitation to tune into creativity. Maybe it’s simply a time for imagination, for creativity and flow…

Accept this invitation to shed and re-imagine… to let go and tune into your inner wisdom. The Year of the Snake is an invitation. Stay open and adaptable.

We are honoured to share the wisdom of Isis Indriya as she reflects on the year ahead.

We are living in a time of profound shedding—a historical moment in our individual lives and the collective experience of humanity. It is a period of transformation, healing, rebirth, and fertility. This is the essence of the Snake’s symbolism.

The Snake embodies an ancient intelligence, serving as a guardian, protector, and emblem of renewal. It illustrates the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth, as depicted in the Ouroboros—the serpent devouring its own tail to sustain creation.

As we shed the layers that are ready to be released, may we emerge renewed, stepping into a deeper relationship with life’s mysteries. With the innate wisdom of trust as our guide, we are led forward into our becoming.
